The Oregon Trail is possibly the most famous of the trails that allowed expansion into the American West.

The National Park Service (NPS) has created a series of guidebooks describing sites of interest along the trail. There are four books available for the first five states along the trail, but for some reason there is no book for Oregon. The guides are known as the Auto Tour Route Interpretive Guides. As of this writing, there is no good online source for mapping, describing and picturing all of the sites listed in the NPS guides. This site is meant to fill that hole, and will also expand the series to include Oregon.
